Merry Christmas from the Morehouses!

We enjoy sharing our lives with you at the end of the year because it gives us a chance to rejoice anew in the Lord’s wonderful gift of LIFE in Christ, to review the blessings of family, good health, and meaning He has shared so freely with us, and to reconnect with all of you. Here’s an update about what each one of us has been doing in 2011:

Susan has been thoroughly enjoying her time being Nana to our three delightful granddaughters, providing leadership to the Arnett Block Association, volunteering at our neighborhood branch library, and ministering with her harp throughout the area. She had a lot of fun when Nate and family dropped in for the summer (see below). Dad Lowry is enjoying new friends at Cloverwood where he has a patio home. We appreciate his frequent visits for Sunday dinner and are grateful for his improved health.

Bill is still very busy providing support for the growing ministries and staff of His Branches, delivering babies, making hospital rounds, and seeing patients at Grace Family Medicine on the west side and Joy Family Medicine on the east side. However, his deepest rewards come from his callings as hubby, Dad, Grampy, brother, uncle, and friend. He and Susan have remained committed to spending a day a week together (oftentimes down at our cabin or out skiing, canoeing, or tramping about), a practice that continues to be a source of joy, invigoration, and support for both.

Joel is now the full-time Director of Music at St. John the Evangelist Church and working part-time for Parsons Organ Co. tuning and repairing pipe organs. The fix-me-up double he bought last year is now a single again, but LOTS of rehab work remains to be done. Thankfully he gets lots of encouragement from his dog Fred, his cats, friends, and family.

Johanna and Asa (and big sister) Zoya are living in Palmyra and welcomed baby Anya this April. Asa is working the night shift (is there any other?) at the Sleep Center, which has allowed Johanna to step aside from her counseling position at SPCC and become a full-time homemaker. Zoya is in the 3rd grade in a BIG school this year, and Nana is still enjoying a lot of very special time with her TWO Palmyra granddaughters!

Nate completed his post-doc fellowship in Tours, France, this spring and accepted a great tenure-track faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh that started this fall. With time to burn between June and September, he and Kari, along with their lovely daughter Coral and lively dog Lupe, came back home to Rochester for the summer. Now they’re all moved into their new house only 4 ½ hours down the road from us.

Sarah and Carl have been enjoying their first year of married life together in Brick, NJ, near where Carl serves as the Station Manager for WRAT. Sarah is working as a full-time Art Director in an ad agency in Princeton, NJ, while they investigate the joys of traveling, going to the beach and nearby NYC, and shopping around for a bigger house.

We appreciate our family and friends, our spiritual family at Joy Community Church, the wonderful Board and staff that support us (www.hisbranches.org), our health, and the Abundant Life we have in Christ more with each passing year. Let’s be in closer touch in 2012! Until then, check out the pictures we’ve posted.
