Merry Christmas from the Morehouses!

We really enjoy the chance to share with you at Christmas and relive some of the Lord’s blessings in our lives. Here’s an update about what our clan’s been doing in 2009:

Joel graduated this month with his Masters Degree in Education from Roberts Wesleyan College while working full-time teaching English and History at Finney High School and part-time as a music director at St. Stephen’s Church. Earlier this year he moved into a studio apartment in one of the historic old houses in Rochester’s Corn Hill district where he shares space with his two kitties, Matthew E. and Gwen

Johanna has a new job as a counselor and art therapist at the SPCC working with young people who have endured serious tragedies in their lives. This summer she moved from her 3rd floor apartment in the city to a new place in Brighton where Zoya started 1st grade at Council Rock School this fall. But the biggest news just took place on December 19th when Johanna and Asa Farnham were married at Peek’n Peak Resort with over 130 guests celebrating! We’re expecting the honeymooners back in time for Christmas…

After Nathan completed and defended his PhD thesis at ASU this spring, Nate and Kari moved to Tours, France on a generous grant to do post-doctoral research (on butterflies, of course). Kari wrapped up her ecology work with the Salt River Indian Community just in time to move and give birth to our wonderful new granddaughter, Coral Anne, in France. Of course, Nana and Grampy had to visit, so off we went to Tours in October for some face time with Coral. And now all three are here in Rochester for the holidays!

Sarah is enjoying her new home in nearby Irondequoit, having just concluded major renovations that included redecorating nearly every room, plumbing, electrical, exterior repainting, adding shutters, reroofing, and doing major yard and garden restoration! This year her faithful feline companion, Cosmo, passed away, and two very rascally kittens, Boo and Minnie have moved in. She’s continuing to grow in her Art Director position at Mirror Show Management where clients love her dedicated and inspired work.

Susan continues to derive and share much joy playing her harp and finds that her CDs are gaining quite a following in the surrounding area. This fall she’s been helping Dad Lowry, who is all established in his new town house at Cloverwood in Pittsford, while he recovers from a shoulder injury that required surgery. Her other roles as wife, Mom, Nana, homemaker, sister, and Arnett Block Association leader also keep her quite busy…

Bill has plenty to occupy him with the work of His Branches (www.hisbranches.org), its pregnancy care ministry Embracing Options, associated medical practices Grace Family Medicine, Joy Family Medicine, and the Student Health Services office at Elim Bible College, notwithstanding his callings as hubby, Dad, and Grampy. J

With each passing year we appreciate all of you, our spiritual family at Joy Community Church, the wonderful Board and staff that support us, our health, and the abundant life we have in Christ more and more.
